Volunteer Organization on Orders for Urgent Dispatch
Segye Times: On the 16th, Family Federation for World Peace and Unification President Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon (pictured) donated 200,000 dollars (about 220,000,000 won) in relief funds to the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, which was massively devastated by cyclone Pam, according to Family Federation International Headquarters President Man-Ho Kim.
Dr. Han also called for the urgent dispatch of disaster relief volunteers to be sent to Vanuatu. The volunteer organization of the world headquarters is made up mainly of Korean, Japanese and Philippine members, and is scheduled to be dispatched to Vanuatu shortly. Vanuatu is a small island nation located east of Australia with a population of 250,000 people and a GDP of 3,000 dollars per capita. Family Federation evangelists are living and working in the island nation.
In November, 2013, when Hurricane Haiyan struck the Philippines, Dr. Han sent out 1,000,000 dollars (about 1.1 billion won) in relief supplies and relief workers. She has also carried out many relief projects for poor and war-torn countries throughout Africa and Southeast Asia, including educational projects for children in refugee camps.
